PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled American Immigration Paralegal to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our legal team by providing administrative and legal assistance throughout the immigration process. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with clients, attorneys, and government agencies to ensure accurate and timely submission of immigration applications and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management and filing of various US visa applications and petitions (e.g., H-1B, L-1, EB-5) in conjunction with the immigration lawyer.
  • Conduct thorough case analysis and immigration legal research to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Review documents, report required documentation to the lawyer, and liaise directly with clients on their visa applications/petitions and the status of pending cases.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, documentation, and client details in the case management system.
  • Draft and assemble various forms, support letters, cover letters, affidavits, legal documents, and blog updates for the website as required.
  • Book interview appointments at the US Embassy or Consulate and consultation appointments as necessary. Create relevant matters for potential or existing clients with all contact details. • Prepare and send applications and petitions to US government agencies via UK post, FedEx or other means. Track these items to ensure receipt.
  • Communicate with government agencies, clients, and other relevant parties to obtain essential information.
  • Stay informed about changes in US immigration law, procedure, and policy.
  • Handle initial contact with potential clients and oversee some billing and accounting functions, such as invoicing, chasing debtors, processing payments, and updating the accounting system.
  • Provide administrative support to the legal team, including but not limited to scheduling, calendar management, and managing communications.
  • Assist with translations of legal documents as necessary and any additional tasks to ensure the office runs efficiently and profitably.

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of experience as an immigration paralegal, with a strong focus on American immigration law.
  • Thorough understanding of different visa categories, immigration processes, and government agencies.
  • Proficiency in using case management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and [additional language] is a plus.
  • Knowledge of immigration software and databases is an advantage.
